Are you finding yourself repeatedly feeling stressed and unable to get enough things completed? Do you feel you cannot do every activity that you want? Are you in need of some techniques to manage your time better? If this is the case, you can use this article to learn how to better use your time management skills.

If managing time is becoming a problem in your life, start delegating where you can. At home, ask others to pick up the pace or the slack, so you everyone can become more efficient. At work, make sure you’re not constantly picking up the slack for others! Delegate some of your load and manage time better.

To better manage the time you have in a day, have a plan for it!

Always sit down the night before or the first 30 minutes of the start of your day and make a list of what you must get done. Do not begin your day until you have completed a plan that includes the times that everything is to be done. Prioritize everything on the list and cross tasks off one by one as you accomplish them. Get into this habit, and you should reach more goals and have more time in the day. You can consider this time block used for scheduling your day one of the most important times of your day.

Do the hardest tasks first. These should be done immediately at the start of the day. This takes the pressure off as you move on to more mundane tasks. Once you get the stressful stuff done, your day will become easier.

To cultivate a better sense of time management, you need to start with the big picture. Take a week or two to log everything you spend your time on. What you want is an hour-by-hour breakdown of how you do your work. Review your log carefully and identify the places where you’re spending more time than is strictly necessary.

And as Justin Cook from Business Advice Free says in his post time management for people running a business:

“Try to study your time. This lets you know how interruptions take up your day and the common issues you need to solve right away. And as you know the average time you consume for these interruptions, you will be able to spend a few hours for the things on your to-do list.”

In order to properly manage your time, you need to look after your wellbeing including making sure you get enough sleep. A huge part of time management is concentration and without a good night’s sleep, it is going to be difficult to focus on anything. Research shows that our performance suffers from consistent or extreme lack of sleep more than we think it does. Sleep at least 7 to 8 hours a night without any interruptions.

Time is something that we can’t get more of once it’s gone. With only a finite amount of time with which we can work, it’s important to make each minute count. The advice listed above will help you wisely manage your time.
